603 Legal Aid Launches New Website to Expand Access to Free Legal Help in New Hampshire
CONCORD, N.H. — 603 Legal Aid (603LA) announced the launch of its new website, 603legalaid.org, a redesigned online resource created to make it easier for New Hampshire residents to find free legal information, understand their options, and apply for civil legal aid services.
The redesigned website brings together 603 Legal Aid’s online application portal and an expanded library of self-help legal resources in one convenient location. The website will launch in both English and Spanish, making these resources accessible to more New Hampshire residents. Visitors can search for reliable legal information, use guided tools to explore whether they may qualify for free legal services, and complete an intake form to apply for help.
“People facing a legal problem often don’t know where to turn,” said Ariel Clemmer, Executive Director of 603 Legal Aid. “Our goal with the new website is to make that first step easier.”
603LA partnered with New Hampshire Legal Assistance (NHLA) to update the self-help materials using a client-centered approach. All articles were updated for content, rewritten using plain language, and organized for easier navigation. The new site has an intuitive layout to guide users from legal questions to next steps.
“For many people, our website is the first step toward getting legal help, so we built it around what they told us they needed,” said Emma Bates, 603 Legal Aid’s Director of Operations and website project lead. “Thanks to feedback from clients, community members, and our own staff, New Hampshire residents can now find self-help materials and apply for assistance more easily. And this is just the beginning: we’ll keep listening and improving the site based on what we hear.”
Highlights of the new website include:
- Access to self-help materials: Explore an expanded library of legal information and self-help resources covering civil matters such as housing, state and federal benefits, domestic violence, and more.
- AI-assisted website chatbot: Use the website’s new AI-assisted chatbot, Aiden, to quickly locate relevant legal information and resources. Community members helped name the chatbot through a public vote.
- Apply for legal assistance: Review eligibility requirements for free legal services and submit an online application for assistance from 603 Legal Aid.
603 Legal Aid provides centralized intake for Granite Staters seeking civil legal aid, delivers direct legal services, and operates a highly regarded pro bono program. Direct legal services are generally available to applicants who meet income eligibility requirements, including households at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
The website’s self-help resources, however, are available to the public regardless of income. This makes 603legalaid.org an important access point for anyone in New Hampshire looking for reliable legal information and resources. By bringing these tools together in a single, statewide online location, 603 Legal Aid aims to help close New Hampshire’s access-to-justice gap and ensure that more Granite Staters can find the information and assistance they need when they need it.
Residents can visit 603legalaid.org to explore the new website, search the legal resource library, and learn more about available legal assistance.
